Look out for the Har ich Festival
of the rts hich runs from
ednesday June 26 to Sunday July
7 this year.
In venues as diverse as the beautiful,
lofty parish church of St. Nicholas,
the LV18 Lightship, the iconic Electric
Palace Cinema, the Napoleonic
Redoubt Fort and the Harwich and
Dovercourt Sailing Club Barge,
you will find a bold and exciting
programme of music, dance, drama,
film, and art.
The stunning young musicians from
the Yehudi Menuhin School will be
performing in Harwich as the first ‘leg’
of a European tour, a Danish Choir
will arrive by ferry, the cult folk group
Lebedek will run a ceilidh, and cellist
extraordinaire - nton Lukoszevieze
- has been commissioned to produce
an evening of experimental music and
film.
Up and coming young dance group
‘ daire to Dance’ are making some
brand new work to accompany a
performance from a classical choir,
and music-theatre group Equinox will
be leading a community performance
of Dylan Thomas’ ‘Under Milk Wood’.
 series of lovely chamber music
recitals, free jazz and a performance
of Haydn’s beautiful, heart-warming
oratorio ‘The Creation’ add to the
cornucopia of cultural pleasures.
Finally, don’t miss the grand piano
placed in the sea for the duration of
the festival, the pianola in the cinema,
and the rt Trail which will take you
into some of the most surprising
corners of the town...
