Dovercourt, hich has been settled
since prehistoric times, as the
discovery site of late bronze age axe
heads sho n at Colchester Castle.
s a seaside resort it offers shops
and cafes. The main shopping area
is the High Street, with shops from
national chains to the independent
stores. Trinity House erected two cast
iron lighthouses “The Leading Lights”
on the beach in 1863 which were
used until 1917 to guide ships around
Landguard Point.

for Harwich.

Heritage Trail which takes in some
key sites such as the Low Lighthouse
maritime museum, the Electric Palace
Cinema built in 1911, the Redoubt
Napoleonic Fort plus many more key
sites of interest.
