Fishing In The Tendring District

A rod licence is a statutory requirement for anyone 13 years or over who wishes to fish in inland waters in England and Wales. These can be purchased online from the Environment Agency website directly, or from the Post Office.

St Osyth Beach Holiday Park and Fishing Lake

St Osyth Beach is near the popular resort of Clacton on sea. This laid back and tranquil park has the benefits of rolling Essex countryside on one side and seaside on the other!

Ardleigh Reservoir near Colchester

The fishery covers just over 120 acres and consists of 2 lakes, the larger contains mainly Carp to 26lb+ the other contains Roach, Tench, Rudd & Perch.

Mixed coarse fishery comprising of 2 lakes of 5 acres and ¾ of an acre.  Open all year round. Bream, Carp, Catfish, Roach, Rudd.  Day tickets available.

Disused gravel pit, covering three quarters of an acre.

One peg for disabled anglers.

Earls Hall Fisheries, St Johns Road, Clacton

Earls Hall Fisheries is located near Clacton on Sea in Essex. They have three beautiful day ticket fishing lakes set away from the main roads in the quiet countryside. All the lakes are run on an advanced booking only basis so you do need to book in advance to fish.
The biggest of the fishing lakes is the specimen carp lake which is around 5 acres in size and holds an impressive selection of carp to 35lb, they also have a catfish lake and a general coarse fishing match fishing lake. Fishing from 7am – 7pm Prices, £10 2 rods/£15 3 rods

Rivers

Holland Brook, Great Clacton (Pickers Ditch to above Fan Bridge on right bank)

Holland Brook is a small coastal river, slow flowing with roach as the dominant species in this mixed coarse fishery.  Summer fishing can be difficult due to duckweed.  Fishing restricted to weekdays between16th June –14th March.  Weekly permits (no day tickets) are available and must be purchased in advance from Brian Dean Tackle 01255 425992.

Sea Fishing

Clacton Pier, CO15 1QX

Fishing permitted from 8am – 6pm seven days a week.  The fee is £7.50 per day (max 2 rods per person) payable at the Pavilion Bowl office.  You do not need a Rod Licence to fish from the Pier.  Annual fishing permits are also available £75. The berthing arm ensures a more private fishing session.

Walton Pier, Pier Approach, Walton-On-The-Naze, CO14 8ES

Although officially the third longest pier in the UK at over half a mile long, Walton Pier is by far the longest going out into the open sea which makes it ideal for sea fishing.

You do not need a Rod Licence to fish from the Pier.  9am - 9pm £9.00 per day

All fisherman must leave the Pier promptly at 9pm.
